Hugh Raven is the second son of John Raven and an environmentalist who chairs the John Ellerman Foundation.^[1], Scotland's Moorland Forum ^[2] and the Marine Conservation Society ^[3].

He was appointed by the Prime Minister to be a member for Scotland of the UK Sustainable Development Commission from 2004 to 2010 ^[4], leading the commission’s work on aviation ^[5]

From 2004-2007 he was on the board of Scottish Natural Heritage ^[6], and from 2017 the board of Crown Estate Scotland ^[7]. He runs his family’s business at Ardtornish in the West Highlands of Scotland.
