Hyunjin Seo (서현진) is an associate professor and Docking Faculty Scholar^[1] in the William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of Kansas. Seo leads the KU Center for Digital Inclusion^[2] that offers technology and information literacy workshops to marginalized populations including refugees, minority seniors, and formerly incarcerated women now seeking to enter the workforce. Seo is also a fellow^[3] at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University.

Research

Seo’s research examines how individuals and organizations use digital communication technologies to mobilize for social change. Her research has been published in top-tier academic journals and received top paper awards at leading international conferences.^[4]

Previous Work

Prior to her graduate studies in the United States, Seo was a diplomatic correspondent for South Korean and international media outlets. She has also consulted to international non-governmental organizations regarding their digital media strategies.
