IndraStra Global (also known as IndraStra, or IGNY) is a publishing house based out of New York in the United States..[1]. The company specialized into digital publishing, digital content distribution, designing and implementation of Integrated library system (ILS) / Library management system (LMS), and custom knowledge repositories such as DSpace, Open Journal Systems (OJS-PKP) and MediaWiki.

History

The publishing house was established in the year 2015 as an extension to thirty-year-old copy and printing business of Upper West Side Copy Inc. Initially, it started as a news publishing website riding over the Google News ecosystem[2] including Google Play Newsstand[3].

As of June 2018, its editor-in-chief is Amrita Jash[4] from Indian School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and Federica Fanuli[5] as the Editor-at-large from University of Salento.

Timeline

2015:

  • Founded in New York as an online news portal.

2016:

  • A semantic mapping project was initiated to map all-type publication metadata of its portals[6].
  • In phase 1, the IndraStra's engineering team worked with OpenCalais and in phase 2, it switched over to open schema-based structured data format due its wide acceptability among the search engines.

2017:

  • Launched Zenodo-based open access repository.[7][8] - registered with the Registry of Open Access Repositories[9]. The seed-level metadata is provided through Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH) feed which is publicly available.
  • Included in Asian Development Bank Institute's three-year rolling year work program (2018-2020) as one of the regional media outlets.[10]

2018:

  • Launched six book imprints with an accreditation system[11], hosted on an open badge framework.[12]
  • Launched a portal based on MediaWiki software[13], as an internal referencing site for its various publications.[14]

2019

  • Launched journal hosting services on cloud, workflow powered by Open Journal Systems.

Journals and Periodicals

As of December 2018,  all of IndraStra's journals are published under a Creative Commons license (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0) and doesn't charge authors an APC (Article processing charge).
