Inspera AS in an educational technology company specialising in online assessment solutions. History

Inspera AS is a part of the Inspera Group, which also includes company Creaza AS[1], one of the companies behind WeVideo in the US. The Inspera Group was founded in 2001 in Oslo by EdTech serial entrepreneur Bjørn Rustberggard. The company is in private property, with independent funding, and is partially owned by employees of Inspera AS. The company has 70% international staff as of 2018.

Inspera started developing digital resources for publishers from 2001, and has been producing an enterprise content management system since 2005.[2]

Inspera has been delivering national digital tests for the Norwegian Directorate for Education and Training since 2008. Its strongest presence is as a provider of online assessments in Norwegian higher education

[3][4][5][6], endorsed by UNINETT [7]. Recently, it has expanded its operations worldwide [8][9][10][11][12], including to international educational institutions such as Cambridge International, Oxford University, and the Caribbean Examinations Council.

Software and Services

The flagship product of Inspera AS is Inspera Assessment. Inspera Assessment is a SaaS B2B cloud-based e-Assessment platform for K-12 schools, secondary and higher education, awarding bodies, municipalities, and governments. It supports authoring, delivering, marking and reporting for the entire e-assessment workflow[13][14][15][16][17][18], as well as providing learning analytics based on classical test theory and item response theory.

Research & Development

Inspera AS has secured public funding for several of its R&D projects. In 2018, Inspera AS was awarded funding by the Regionalt Forskningsfonds Hovedstaden (RFFHSTAD) for a project on the use of tech to improve question quality.[19] The project is a collaboration between the Oslo directorate for education ([https://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Utdanningsetaten_i_Oslo Utdanningsetaten]), researchers from the University of Oslo, [https://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matematikksenteret the Mathematics Centre] at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), and researchers from the Medical Sciences Learning Technologies Division at the University of Oxford.

In a second R&D project, funded by the Research Council of Norway, Inspera is involved in developing adaptive tests for young students in Norway in mathematics and reading comprehension.
