An Integrated Research Organization is a clinical trials model designed and created by Winston-Salem-based clinical research company Javara Inc. Designed to ease difficulties behind acquiring patients for clinical research trials by better connecting healthcare and drug development industries, integrated research organizations are intended to better optimize and expedite drug development by opening clinical research trials to more participants.^[1]

An integrated research organization (IRO) model intends to broaden physician knowledge of potential clinical trials and access to clinical trials while simultaneously allowing physicians to provide accurate and updated clinical research opportunities to patients.^[2] It works to ensure that patients keep participating in

the trials with a process that follows them through to the completion of the trial.^[3]

Along with healthcare partners, integrated research organizations provide physicians with a more competent procedure for seamlessly including patients in clinical trials.^[4]

Process

Currently, only 2 million patient volunteers are involved in clinical trials, however overall demand for patient volunteers exceeds 58 million.^[5] This delta indicates that millions of patients could benefit from clinical trials if they had knowledge of them as an option. Integrated research organizations raise patient awareness of trials, allowing potentially life-saving medications and procedures to reach market much quicker than they usually would. Since clinical trials are how medications come to market, integrated research organization greatly decrease time required for patients to access treatments.
