IQ Glass ("IQ Glass Solutions Ltd") is a British architectural glass company, specialising in structural glazing. They are the sole dealers of the Keller AG Minimal Windows, Umbris louvre roofs, HIRT Swiss Descending Windows and Mondrian glazing. IQ Glass focus on high-end residential glazing design with many of their projects featuring in magazines, awards, and architectural design television programs such as Grand Designs. HistoryIn 2004, IQ Glass Solutions Ltd was called Glasszone Ltd, based in Watford providing architectural and structural glazing services to commercial buildings throughout the UK. Due to the increased success of Glasszone Ltd, further sister companies were formed to specialise in specific areas of commercial glazing. This included Zone Interiors, who specialised in glazing for commercial reception areas. In 2010, the Directors changed their focus from commercial glazing to residential glazing, which saw the company name change to IQ Glass UK. In the same year, they took on the sole dealership of the Minimal Windows glazing product. The Minimal Windows systems from Keller AG are manufactured in Luxembourg, throughout the years of working together IQ Glass have teamed up with their product designers to develop various new products based on the Minimal Windows design including the Minimal Windows Guillotine window. Due to an increase in large architectural glazing packages, Contemporary Glazing Ltd was formed as the specialist glazing works division for IQ Glass UK. The company began to grow and with this came the need for larger premises and showroom space. On the 14th February 2014, IQ Glass and all associated companies moved to Amersham, where several new sister companies we formed. Since 2004 the company turnover has grown from zero to £4m in 2010 onto £33m in 2018, making it one of the top 100 fastest growing businesses in the UK. The IQ Group employs over 230 staff at their specialist showroom, head office and factory in Amersham, Buckinghamshire. The IQ Group continues to invest in their product and manufacturing capability which provides them with a transparent supply chain. ShowroomIQ Glass UK have on display at their showroom a wide range of products tailored towards residential properties. Products on display include bespoke frameless glazing, glass balustrading, sliding doors, internal and external glazing solutions. Showroom visits are by appointment only and entail a tour where an adviser offers technical advice about the wide range of products available. The showrooms glass entrance door sits within a modern glass extension located within the courtyard area which is also home to a large steel framed Mondrian Box, Minimal Windows Box with floor-to-ceiling glass, and a Schuco glazed meeting room. This elegant entrance courtyard showcases an array of products in one space cleverly designed to appear as though they are in their natural surroundings. IQ Glass offer a supply and installation service as well as a supply only service. Each installation is different and so is treated accordingly. Award-Winning ProjectsIQ have completed the glazing on a great number of award-winning projects, many of them achieving prestigious RIBA and RICS Awards. Oatlands Close Oatlands Close has won several awards due to its architectural design. These awards include the RIBA South East Award 2018, the RIBA South East Small Project Award, RIBA House of the Year 2018 and winner of The Sunday Times British Homes Awards. This new rear extension was designed to create a stronger connection between the home and garden, which was previously poorly connected. Garden House The Garden House featured on BBC 2 The 100k House: Tricks of the Trade – Series 2. The sliding doors on this project covered three joining walls, each configured to allow a variety of different opening positions. The central courtyard surrounded by three walls of glass creates a tunnel of light that floods through into the living spaces. Brook Barn Brook Barn was shortlisted for The Sunday Times British Homes Award 2018 in the "Home Transformation of the Year" category. Zac Monro Architects designed the renovation of this rural barn conversion, who had been inspired by the "Garden House" project. Keller Minimal Windows sliding doors were installed into the new garden office and glass link. These slim framed sliding doors were used to help bring the homeowners and the rooms closer to the outdoor living space, especially during the Summer months. 25 Savile Row IQ worked closely with Piercy & Co Architecture, who designed this refurbishment for Derwent London, to create a modern yet traditional overall aesthetic. The specialist elements of glazing included super contemporary disappearing facades of Minimal Windows, classic steel Art Deco Mondrian windows and doors and a steel winter garden installed to the rooftop of the building. 25 Savile Row was awarded the RIBA National Award 2018 and the RIBA London Award 2018 for the extensive work carried out during the refurbishment of the original office building. Silver House Silver House by Hyde + Hyde has won many awards throughout the years, including; Royal Society of Architects Wales ‘Best Building of 2017", RSAW 2017 award for Architecture, RSAW 2017 award for "Client of the Year" and Silver House was also shortlisted for the RIBA House of the Year and the RIBA Stephen Lawrence Award. This luxury new build home in Swansea saw the installation of a large amount of architectural glazing to capture the stunning views that surround the site. Minimal Windows sliding glass doors were installed to the open-plan living across two walls to provide access onto the large balcony that wraps around the building. Warwick Hall Warwick Hall went through a large redevelopment to extend the community space attached to the Grade II listed Church. IQ Glass carefully installed a structural glass roof, frameless clerestory windows and slim framed sliding glass doors to the listed building to create a minimalistic aesthetic that protected the integrity of the heritage building design. Warwick Hall won the AJ Architecture Award "Heritage Project of the Year 2017". Rusty House The Rusty House won the Homebuilding & Renovating Best Residential Design Award and was shortlisted in the RIBA South East Award 2017. This contemporary new build house featured on the TV show Grand Designs in series 16. It was constructed on an old quarry site in a riverside location in Lewes in the South Downs National Park. Old Fort Road Old Fort Road was the overall winner for the Home building and Renovating Award 2016. The renovation saw the installation of Minimal Windows sliding glass doors and balconies with frameless glass balustrading, to make the most of the outstanding sea views that surrounded this West Sussex property. Sand Dunes The Sand Dunes project focused on capitalising on the panoramic coastal views located on the doorstep of this site, minimally framed glazing systems to make the most of this. Due to its innovative design, this project won the RIBA South West Awards 2016. Camber Sands It could be said that this project, located on the sand dunes in East Sussex, is the modern equivalent of a beach hut due to the wooden exterior and location. Large sliding glass doors were used alongside structural glazing to offer minimal interruption between the property and the beach. The Camber Sands property was shortlisted for the RIBA South East Awards 2016. Edge Hill This prestigious new build project was shortlisted for the RIBA North East Awards 2016 due to the eye-catching contemporary design that utilised large elevations of structural glass and floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors. The modern architectural glass design was finished with dark timber wooden cladding to provide an element of privacy to the home while creating shade and texture to the aesthetic. Turney Road Turney Road was shortlisted for the NLA Don"t Move Improve Awards 2016. An eye-catching contemporary glass extension was added to a family home in Putney which utilised Keller slim framed sliding glass doors and frameless structural glazing to increase the natural light intake within the existing building while providing the homeowners with a stronger connection between the home and garden. Garden Studios The Garden Studios project won the RIBA East Regional Awards 2015. This twinned garden studio was set within the rear garden of a Suffolk home, capturing the light through large structural glass elevations. IQ Glass designed, manufactured and installed these specialist glass elements which stepped over the dark timber and steel structure, resulting in a sleek finish. Sweethaws Sweethaws is a new build 5-bedroom family home in Ashdown Forest with large glass elevations and cantilevered balconies. This architectural design included some complex structural designs to ensure the architect's proposal worked well within the banked ground and the unique shape of the property.
