IQ Glass ("IQ Glass Solutions Ltd") is a British architectural glass company, specialising in structural glazing. They are the sole dealers of the Keller AG Minimal Windows, Umbris louvre roofs, HIRT Swiss Descending Windows and Mondrian glazing. IQ Glass focus on high-end residential glazing design with many of their projects featuring in magazines, awards, and architectural design television programs such as Grand Designs.

History

In 2004, IQ Glass Solutions Ltd was called Glasszone Ltd, based in Watford providing architectural and structural glazing services to commercial buildings throughout the UK. Due to the increased success of Glasszone Ltd, further sister companies were formed to specialise in specific areas of commercial glazing. This included Zone Interiors, who specialised in glazing for commercial reception areas.

In 2010, the Directors changed their focus from commercial glazing to residential glazing, which saw the company name change to IQ Glass UK. In the same year, they took on the sole dealership of the Minimal Windows glazing product. The Minimal Windows systems from Keller AG are manufactured in Luxembourg, throughout the years of working together IQ Glass have teamed up with their product designers to develop various new products based on the Minimal Windows design including the Minimal Windows Guillotine window.

Due to an increase in large architectural glazing packages, Contemporary Glazing Ltd was formed as the specialist glazing works division for IQ Glass UK.

The company began to grow and with this came the need for larger premises and showroom space. On the 14th February 2014, IQ Glass and all associated companies moved to Amersham, where several new sister companies we formed.

Since 2004 the company turnover has grown from zero to £4m in 2010 onto £33m in 2018, making it one of the top 100 fastest growing businesses in the UK.

The IQ Group employs over 230 staff at their specialist showroom, head office and factory in Amersham, Buckinghamshire. The IQ Group continues to invest in their product and manufacturing capability which provides them with a transparent supply chain.

These awards include the RIBA South East Award 2018, the RIBA South East Small Project Award, RIBA House of the Year 2018 and winner of The Sunday Times British Homes Awards. The Garden House featured on BBC 2 The 100k House: Tricks of the Trade – Series 2. The sliding doors on this project covered three joining walls, each configured to allow a variety of different opening positions. The central courtyard surrounded by three walls of glass creates a tunnel of light that floods through into the living spaces.

Brook Barn

Brook Barn was shortlisted for The Sunday Times British Homes Award 2018 in the "Home Transformation of the Year" category. Zac Monro Architects designed the renovation of this rural barn conversion, who had been inspired by the "Garden House" project. Keller Minimal Windows sliding doors were installed into the new garden office and glass link. These slim framed sliding doors were used to help bring the homeowners and the rooms closer to the outdoor living space, especially during the Summer months.

25 Savile Row

IQ worked closely with Piercy & Co Architecture, who designed this refurbishment for Derwent London, to create a modern yet traditional overall aesthetic. The specialist elements of glazing included super contemporary disappearing facades of Minimal Windows, classic steel Art Deco Mondrian windows and doors and a steel winter garden installed to the rooftop of the building.

Camber Sands

It could be said that this project, located on the sand dunes in East Sussex, is the modern equivalent of a beach hut due to the wooden exterior and location. Large sliding glass doors were used alongside structural glazing to offer minimal interruption between the property and the beach. The Camber Sands property was shortlisted for the RIBA South East Awards 2016.

Edge Hill

This prestigious new build project was shortlisted for the RIBA North East Awards 2016 due to the eye-catching contemporary design that utilised large elevations of structural glass and floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors. The modern architectural glass design was finished with dark timber wooden cladding to provide an element of privacy to the home while creating shade and texture to the aesthetic.

Turney Road

Turney Road was shortlisted for the NLA Don"t Move Improve Awards 2016. Garden Studios

The Garden Studios project won the RIBA East Regional Awards 2015. This twinned garden studio was set within the rear garden of a Suffolk home, capturing the light through large structural glass elevations.
