John (“Jack”) Attwood was an American businessman born on September 26, 1929 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. His family migrated from Oklahoma during the Great Depression and settled in Eagle Rock, California. There, he attended Eagle Rock High School. In his early twenties, Jack served in the Korean War as a military policeman. Shortly after he returned from the war, he began his education at California State University Los Angeles. There, he earned his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. He married his wife Guadalupe Morales in 1955. During college, he took a mailroom position at the Coca-Cola Bottling Company Los Angeles. After a few years, Jack became the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board. In 1981, after the buyout of the Coca-Cola Bottling Company Los Angeles by Beatrice Foods, Jack became an executive at Beatrice Foods. After years of heading the beverage operations business there, Jack became the Vice President of the company. He managed many beverage accounts including Coca-Cola, Tropicana, and Arrowhead Water. In 1986, the Coca Cola Company re-purchased the Los Angeles franchise, there Jack worked as an executive for many years. After his retirement from the beverage industry, Jack dedicated his time to a variety of palaces. He served as a board director at Sport Chalet for many years. He was an active member of many charitable and civic boards including the Boy Scouts of America, Big Brothers of Greater Los Angeles, and Verdugo Hills Hospital. He also served as the President of the Flintridge Riding Club in La Cañada Flintridge, California, and Oakmont Country Club in Glendale, California.
