Jacy Topps (born August 11, 1979)[1][2] is a feminist and American journalist.[3] Topps formerly worked as an assistant fashion stylist, makeup artist and is now a freelance contributor to national publications.


Early Life

Prior to living in New York City, Topps was raised in Atlanta, Georgia where she worked in the service industry for over ten years.[4]

Career

At the age of 30, Jacy relocated to New York City.[5] She worked as an assistant fashion stylist and assistant makeup artist working on independent films and the televised runway fashion show, BET’s Rip the Runway.[6] After working as a makeup artist and stylist, Topps started working as a Fashion Correspondent, covering fashion events throughout New York City, for Style-ology Magazine, an independent fashion publication.[7]

Later, Topps contributed to multiple independent lifestyle and major national publications. Throughout her journalism career, she has interviewed Janet Mock[8], Gloria Steinem[9], the Indigo Girls[10] and RuPaul’s Drag Race contestant, The Vixen.[11]

Topps writes about various topics but has been singled out for her writing on wine and feminism. She was referred to as “one of the wine world’s brightest new voices” by Cantele Winery.[12] Her essays on feminism have been used as required reading in a Women Studies course taught at Agnes Scott College, a private women’s, liberal arts college.[13]

Jacy Topps has bylines in Glamour, InStyle, Munchies, Bitch, Oprah Magazine, Time Out New York, Medium, Wine Enthusiast, Culture Trip Huffington Post, Slate and BUST Magazine.

Personal Life

Jacy Topps identifies as a lesbian and is married to her partner.[14]
