| instrument = Bass guitar | years_active = | label = | associated_acts = | website = {{URL|jayrees.com}} }}Jay Carlyle Rees is an American musician, composer, music educator and conducter.[1] Life and careerRees studied at the University of Miami in Coral Gables from 1979 to 1984 and received his Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Performance and Music Education. He then studied at the University of Arizona in Tucson and received his Master of Music degree in Conducting.[2] From 1995 to 2014, Rees was the Associate Director of Bands at the University of Arizona, leading the Symphonic Band, Marching Band (Pride of Arizona), and Pep Band, and also was an Associate Professor of Music.[3] Starting in 2014, Rees became the Professor of Music and Director of Athletic Bands at the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami. He leads the Frost Band of the Hour marching and pep band, as well as conducting the Frost Symphonic Winds, teaching undergraduate music education classes and directing undergraduate jazz combos.[4] In 2008, Rees formed Sylvan Street, a jazz fusion band, featuring 8 acclaimed musicians.
