His father is Haitian Pastor, Jean Vilpin Sr., who is known for his missionary & philanthropic works in the City of Miami. Vilpin first picked up the Trumpet at 9 years old in church. Jay would continue to play trumpet and eventually taught himself how to record, mix, and master music. Jay Vilpin is a graduate from Miami Beach High School. He attended Florida A&M University on a full scholarship paid by Carnival & Miami HEAT and graduated with a B.S. in Instrumental Music in 2016. After college, Vilpin taught High school Band in Tallahassee, Fl before he was recruited for the 2017 Drumline Live! national tour. Jay also made a TV appearance on BET’s “The Quad” while on tour. He then traveled to Vancouver, B.C. to perform as a guest entertainer on Cruise Ships in B.B. King’s All Star Band.
