Early life and career

He was brought up in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey, a small town in Northern New Jersey where he made home movies with Rick Hurvitz and Bruce Beresford-Redman while attending Pascack Hills High School.

Acting

In 2000, he was accepted and trained at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in New York City.[2][3]

He began auditioning for the cast of the film This Thing of Ours, starring James Caan. Soon after, he was cast in other independent films and appeared in the off-Broadway production, Rain Delay.

Doscher then produced and acted in the feature film, Remedy, along with Frank Vincent, Vincent Pastore and Ace Frehley, with music by Danny Aiello.[4]

In 2007 he wrote, produced and appeared in the comedy film The Gentleman.

Producing

In June 2004 he started a film production company, Starline Films.[5]

In 2008 Doscher wrote, produced, and directed two documentaries: The Documentary narrated by Montel Williams[6][7] which was awarded Best Documentary at the Garden State Film Festival and Harry: A Communication Breakdown[8][9] narrated by Danny Aiello.[10]

Jon Doscher and Starline Films produced the film Bluefield in 2012 loosely based on the history of the Atwood-Blauvelt mansion, in Oradell, New Jersey. The Blauvelt Mansion, as it is commonly known, was built between 1896 and 1897, and is considered a good example of shingle style architecture in Bergen County, NJ.[11] The film, which was shot on location at the mansion, is dedicated to philanthropic endeavors and is aligned with the Blauvelt- Demarest Foundation, the official charitable organization for the Bluefield movie project.[12]

In 2017 he produced and directed Barn9: Chariots on Fire and he worked with Jim Sheridan to develop and produce Old Stoneface].
