Jorge Mastropietro is an American-Argentinian born architect. He is the principal of Jorge Mastropietro Architects Atelier, a company he founded in 2007. JMA has two offices located in New York City, and Buenos Aires.

Life and Career

Mastropietro was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He attended the Universidad de Morón where he studied architecture for six years and then received his diploma. After receiving his diploma, Mastropietro taught at a major university. Shortly thereafter, he opened his first architectural practice in 1991 called Mastropietro and Partners. The practice is located in Buenos Aires, Argentina and started as an architectural studio and workshop. In his studio he designed multi-family homes and individual homes located in various places in Argentina. Jorge had a strong desire to explore architecture internationally and made his first stop in Europe and then The United States.

In 2002, Jorge Mastropietro moved to New York, where he joined the architectural firm, Rafael Viñoly. Jorge worked for Viñoly as a project architect and project manager for large public buildings like the Carrasco International Airport, Cleveland Museum of Art, and Bard College. Although he enjoyed creating buildings and working on large projects that paid his bills, he felt like something else was missing from his life. He discovered that he was missing the freedom he felt when he led his own company.

In 2007, Mastropietro founded Jorge Mastropietro Architects Atelier (JMA) in New York City. He offers a broad array of services including landscaping, environmental architecture, urban design, structural engineering consultation, and sustainable design.

During the course of his 25 year long career, Mastropietro has worked as both a developer and architect. He has worked on major works including designing a 100,000 square-foot apartment building with 120 units in Buenos Aires, to developing his own multi-unit buildings like 93 Bright in Jersey City and 10-18 47th Avenue, a contemporary townhouse located in Long Island City, NY.{{cn}}
