Joseph James Borgatti (born September 30, 1923) is an American businessman. He served as Senior Vice-President for Citibank (then First National City Bank), President of [https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/EXMIBAL Exmibal], SA (a subsidiary of International Nickel Co) and President and CEO of ADELA Investment Company. He lives in New York City. CareerIn 1951, shortly after receiving his MBA, he joined Citibank, serving in many capacities in Latin America (loan officer, branch officer, resident Vice President) where he ran the southern part of Citibank's South American operations. In 1968 he became Vice President in charge of Operations in New York. In 1970, he became the President of Exmibal, a nickel-mining company (subsidiary of International Nickel Co, Canada) in Guatemala. From 1973 to 1983, he was Executive Vice President and then President/CEO of the ADELA Investment Company (the Atlantic Development Group for Latin America). This corporation was composed of leaders from major international companies whose mission was to invest in economic development in Latin America. He managed the liquidation of the corporation in 1983. From 1984 to present, he consulted with various governments in Latin America on privatization and other projects. From 1996 to 2006 he was on the Board of Directors of the Bulgarian-American Enterprise Fund, serving variously as Director, Chairman, and Chair of the Audit Committee. He is now Director Emeritus. Personal LifeJoseph Borgatti was born in Somerville, Massachusetts to Italian immigrants Joseph and Angelina Borgatti (nee Fortini). He began undergraduate studies at Harvard College but left after a few months to join the US Army, serving as a tail gunner with a bombing squadron in the South Pacific. In 1947, he married Caroline “Sue” Jaskiewicz in 1947. In 1949, after returning to Harvard, he received his Bachelor’s degree. While an undergraduate, he managed the Harvard University band. In 1951, he received his MBA “with distinction” from Harvard Business School.Their son, Stephen Peter Borgatti, was born in 1956. Sue Borgatti died in 1976. In 1992, Joseph married Elizabeth Miskell.[1]. She died in 2017.
