Josh Lowenthal is a business owner, entrepreneur, and politician who is currently running for

California State Assembly. He is a member of the California Democratic Party campaigning

to represent California's 72nd State Assembly district, which encompasses Seal Beach, Huntington Beach, Garden Grove, Westminster, Fountain Valley, Midway City, Rossmoor, Sunset Beach and Los Alamitos.

Lowenthal completed his bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and then attended the

University of California, San Diego, where he earned a master’s degree in international

affairs.

In 2015, Lowenthal was named President of FreeConferenceCall.com, responsible for the overall business strategy including all retail and wholesale operations, global expansion strategy, sales and marketing and business development.[1] Since joining the company in 2010, Josh has been instrumental in helping FreeConferenceCall.com grow exponentially across 60 markets on five continents, connecting more than 40 million callers each month. The company is the most recognized retail brand of audio conferencing and collaboration services on the planet.

Prior to joining FreeConferenceCall.com, Lowenthal served as founder and CEO of various telecommunications startups: West Africa-based AVAD Networks, TeleJunctions Conferencing and Flash phone pioneer Yakfree.com.

Josh Lowenthal lives in Huntington Beach with his wife and three children.[2]

Political positions

Clean air, clean water, clean beaches

With nearly 10% of the United States of America population set to visit California beaches in 2018, our coast is also the greatest economic driver in our community. Lowenthal believes, for both our livelihood and our local economy, it is the responsibility of the community to protect open space and beaches from overdevelopment and pollution, and expand access for the communities and future generations. Lowenthal will fight to crack down on polluters, ensure that the coastlines are not marred by ill-informed development, and will work to increase access to parks and open space for all residents in Assembly District 72. [3]

Jobs of the future

As an entrepreneur, Lowenthal is passionate about building companies and creating jobs. His business experience over the last two decades has shown that job growth is directly tied to implementing bold and out-of-the-box thinking. In the legislature, he plans to work to make sure the government is a true partner for creative and innovative businesses, both large and small, and will work to nourish the ability to create new opportunities for the community. [3]

Good Schools + Good educations = Great outcomes

As a father with children in local public schools, Lowenthal understands the anxiety parents feel about the quality of their children’s education. With so many young people falling between the cracks, society has become too focused on a political relationship with public schools instead of a partnership focused squarely on results for our students. Lowenthal will focus on public school funding, increasing parent involvement and volunteering, and creating accountability to parents and students that will allow leaders to make the informed decisions necessary to improve faltering schools. Schools are not a political battlefield – they are the nursery of the future and deserve undivided commitment to reach success. [3]

Privacy – it’s your right

The digital world we live in today may involve the convenience of mobile apps, social media, and online commerce. Unfortunately data breaches and hacking happen with little consequence, and advertisers monetize digital behavior without our knowledge or control. As a business executive in the tech space, Lowenthal recognizes the tremendous benefits and conveniences of the digital world. Yet we are also paying a huge cost for our most precious information to be stored elsewhere, and the consequences of poor security are high. Our government has an obligation to make certain all data is secure, provide simpler and easier mechanisms for the public to understand who is accessing our data, and to opt out if any person chooses. Lowenthal is particularly interested in protecting children by enabling parents to have stronger controls over their kids’ digital footprint.[4]
