José Val del Omar (Granada, October 27, 1904 – Madrid, August 4, 1982) was a Spanish photographer, filmmaker and inventor. BioHe worked in the Misiones Pedagógicas of the Second Republic, contemporary of Federico García Lorca, Luis Cernuda, Josep Renau, María Zambrano and other members of the so-called "[Silver Age of Spanish Letters and Sciences|Silver Age]]" truncated with the 1936 coup d'état, the [[Spanish Civil War|Civil War] and subsequent repression. Val del Omar was a "cinema believer" who formulated by means of the acronym PLAT -which is equivalent to the totalizing concept of Picto-Luminic-Audio-Tactyl-. In 1928 he anticipated several of his most characteristic techniques, including the "apanoramic overflow of the image", the exit outside the limits of the screen, and the concept of "tactile vision". These techniques, and that of "diaphonic sound" and other explorations in the sound field, were applied in his Elemental Triptych of Spain, which includes: "Aguaespejo Granadino" (1953-55), "Fuego en Castilla" (1958-60) and "Acariño Galaico" (1961/1981-82/1995), concluded posthumously. However, his work and research - without end, as he used to close his films - did not begin to be valued and somehow rediscovered until shortly before his death. Filmography
