[https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0528363/?ref_=nv_sr_1 Julie Agnes Lynch] is an American screenwriter, director, and producer and is best known for her 1998 film Remembering Sex, aka Getting Off.

Early Life and Education

Julie Agnes Lynch was born in Darby, Pennsylvania to Joan Driscoll Lynch, a university film professor, and Thomas A. Lynch, an insurance executive. Lynch attended Lansdowne-Aldan Junior High and graduated from Conestoga High School in Berwyn, Pennsylvania. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Villanova University, where she studied acting, finance and accounting.

Early Career

Julie moved to New York City to work at Shearson Lehman American Express as a corporate analyst on the financing desk in the investment banking division. At age twenty-five, she left banking to study acting with New York legends Wynn Handman and Fred Kareman.

Independent Film Career

After acting in several independent films, Lynch started writing plays and magazine articles. After Don Wallace hired her to write an assignment for Self Magazine about the AIDS crisis, she wrote and directed a screenplay on the same subject, which starred Oscar-nominated Amy Ryan, Tony-nominated David Marshall Grant, Brooke Smith, Christine Harnos, Garret Dilahunt, and Bill Sage.

Glenn Lovell of Variety called Remembering Sex (aka Getting Off) “a complex, sharply observed tale of three female buddies coping with the specter of AIDS in 1992 New York,” and likened it to ‘"Friends" with an acerbic Dorothy Parker aftertaste.” LA Weekly said it was "compassionate and unflinching.” Indiewire called it "a powerful view of a woman’s sexuality.”

The film was produced by Gary Winick, Gill Holland, Eilhys England, David Hackworth and Lynch and premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and was an official selection of SXSW, The Seattle International Film Festival, The Munich International Film Festival, The Santa Barbara International Film Festival, Philadelphia Festival of World Cinema, The Avignon New York Film Festival, The New York Women’s Film Festival, The Hudson Valley Film Festival, The Greenwich Film Festival, The FirstGlance International Film Festival, and the Reel Women International Film Festival. GETTING OFF was awarded “The Broader Vision Award For Filmmaking Dedicated to The Greater Good” at The Garden State Film Festival and “The Audience Award” at The Arpa International Film Festival. The film was acquired by Showtime.

After the success of Remembering Sex, Lynch was commissioned to write several screenplays. She also wrote, produced, directed and hosted 26 episodes of the international travel series, Great Finds.

Lynch’s thriller Dark Desire, starring Kelly Lynch, Michael Nouri and Nic Robuck,

was commissioned by director Armand Mastroianni, bought by Lifetime and voted the most popular film of 2012 by their viewers.

Lynch was hired by Award-winning director Doug Atchison to write the life story of visionary Debrah Constance.

With her partners Sheree J. Wilson and Colton Meacham, Lynch founded Sandalphon Entertainment, a New York and Los Angeles-based media company dedicated to developing and delivering bold and meaningful motion pictures and television programs in the U.S. and globally. The company has developed several projects for production, many of them based on true stories.

The Truthsayers, written by Lynch, is based on the groundbreaking court case Harold Glover V. Porter Gaud School that was so influential, it compelled the legislature of South Carolina to extend the Statute Of Limitations to age twenty-seven, giving survivors of child sexual abuse more time to sue their perpetrators.

Rosamond, also written by Lynch, is inspired by the life of the artist Christine Rosamond, who rocketed to fame at the age of 25. According to Circle Gallery Magazine, at the peak of her career, Rosamond was more published than “any other artist, living or dead. More than Salvador Dali, Norman Rockwell, Peter Max, Erte, and Alexander Calder.” RainMaker Films, Sandalphon Entertainment and High Sierra Films are producing both projects.
