History

The Kankakee Valley Post was launched on 28 July 1932.[1] On 1 December 1932 the post combined with the Griffith Herald and was published by R.L. Joiner. Joiner then sold the paper on 2 February 1933 to J. Barton Cox. Cox moved to Demotte from Owensville, Indiana where he was editor for the Owensville Star.[1] On 23 May 1940 Cox sold the paper to Mary Peterson and Richard Ruck. On 1 October 1946 Keith Robinson from Michigan City, Indiana purchased the paper. Robinson’s father owned the Rensselear Republican.[1] Robinson changed the banner of the paper to the Kankakee Valley Post. In 1971 the newspaper was given another name change when Robinson purchased the Jasper County Newspaper.[1] He combined the two papers to become the Kankakee Valley Post-News. Along with the Kankakee Valley Post-News Robinson also owned the Rensselear Republican, Morocco Courier, and Remington Press.
