Founded by Mentor Brown in 1888,[1][2], the Kearney Hub succeeded the Central Nebraska press. Brown, the founder, would run it until his death in 1932. It was taken on by his son Hugh after his death, who sold it to a larger newspaper company in 1938.[1] In 1951 Howard Chittenden succeeded Fred Pruett as editor.[3] Chittenden had worked at the paper since 1938.[3] Paper cited for excellent political reporting by the American Political Science Association in 1965.[4] References1. ^1 {{Cite news|url=https://www.newspapers.com/clip/28274418/truth_and_other_things/|title=Truth and Other Things|last=|first=|date=31 December 1938 |work=The Columbus Telegram |archive-url=|archive-date=|dead-url=}} 2. ^{{Cite news|url=https://www.newspapers.com/clip/28274685/mentor_brown_oldest_editor_in_state/|title=Mentor Brown, Oldest Editor In State, Dies|last=|first=|date=30 September 1932 |work=The Nebraska State Journal |archive-url=|archive-date=|dead-url=}} 3. ^1 {{Cite news|url=https://www.newspapers.com/clip/28274127/chittenden_new_editor_of_kearney_daily/|title=Chittenden New Editor of Kearney Daily Hub|last=|first=|date=7 July 1951 |work=The Lincoln Star |archive-url=|archive-date=|dead-url=}} 4. ^{{Cite news|url=https://www.newspapers.com/clip/28273931/kearney_daily_hub_reporter_is_cited/|title=Kearney Daily Hub Reporter Is Cited|last=|first=|date=19 November 1965 |work=The Lincoln Star |archive-url=|archive-date=|dead-url=}} |
