Kiyan Sobhani (born October 28, 1987), is a Canadian-born Spanish football journalist who mainly focuses on Real Madrid analysis, and is best known for his work as a weekly columnist and podcast host on Managing Madrid. Sobhani started off his sports writing career covering the Toronto Raptors for Raptors Republic -- an ESPN True Hoop affiliate -- before transitioning to a full-time Spanish football writer. His first body of football writing came at Managing Madrid, where he quickly gained popularity for his unique, quirky and analytical style of writing. He was then appointed by SB Nation as the chief editor of Managing Madrid, and went on to host the largest Real Madrid podcast in the world, the Managing Madrid Podcast. In 2017, Sobhani launched a second podcast -- Churros y Tácticas -- which focuses on Spanish football and banter between a Real Madrid and Barcelona fan. He is presently regularly featured on FourFourTwo Magazine, and Statsbomb. In 2018, Sobhani announced to coming of his book, The Holy Book of Madridismo. It's yet to be released. Early careerIn October 2010, Sobhani began his writing career by found his own website about the Toronto Raptors, "Raptors Watch". The blog quickly amassed a large social media following, and attracted various writers and guest columnists. Raptors Watch soon went on to obtain press credentials and become well-connected with the NBA organization. In 2015, Sobhani abandoned the website in order to write full-time for Raptors Republic, where he wrote columns and match reports -- occasionally doing a popular Raptors Republic Podcast segment with commentator Jack Armstrong as Jack drove home from Raptors games. Managing MadridSobhani wrote his first article for Managing Madrid in 2015, where he profiled new signing Danilo. Sobhani then created a new segment on the website called 'immediate reaction', where he analyzed a Real Madrid match and published his analytical piece immediately upon the final whistle. To this day, that segment is a staple, and fans go to the website after a game to read Sobhani's tactical analysis of the match. During his first year with Managing Madrid, Sobhani became host of the Managing Madrid Podcast, which is an ever-growing and popular show for Real Madrid fans. In 2017, Sobhani became the chief editor of Managing Madrid. It was in that same year that he become a regular contributor to popular UK football magazine FourFourTwo.
