K+lab aka Caleb Cowie^[1] is a New Zealand musician based in The United States. His music style ranges from Funk, Hip hop, Drum and Bass and Glitch Hop. Using a number of Synthesizer's, K+lab has generated an individual sound around bass and funky melodies. He regularly tours his live performance throughout Europe, Canada, Australia, USA, South America, and his homeland of New Zealand.^[2]

Live Performance & Production

K+Lab has a unique live performance style, he curates his set in order to perform a combination of live bass line's and melody's using a Keytar.^[3]. He prefers the Korg RK-100S for it's style and reliable functionality. With performance in mind whilst producing, K+lab revealed that the Keytar has revolutionized his production style, saying that it changed how he write's music having to strip stuff back so he can perform it live.^[4] He also chops up beats and sounds live using an Akai MPC.

Collaborations

K+Lab has collaborated with a number well recognized musicians in the Dance music scene and Hip hop scene. Commonly noted collaborations include Fort Knox Five (United States),^[10] Melodownz (New Zealand),^[11] Stickybuds (Canada),^[12] Afrika Baby Bam (United States),^[13] Def3 (Canada),^[14] The Mic Smith (New Zealand),^[15] Sacha Vee (New Zealand)^[16].

Spider Man - (Homecoming Trailer)

K+Lab and Stickybuds remix of The Meters "Hand Clapping Song" was featured on the Spiderman Homecoming trailer.^[17] The single, 'Clap Your Hands Now' was released and published by Westwood Recordings.^[18]

'Clap Your Hands Now' is a flip on The Meters' 1970's hit, the 'Hand Clapping Song', featuring KWADI on the vocals.^[19]

Recent Movements

K+Lab made the move to The United States in 2019 after residing in Canada for two years. He immediately went on tour with Haywyre on Haywyre's "Discover/Form" Tour^[55] throughout America performing at number of new cities.

In October 2018 K+Lab released his third full length Album "The Booty Galactic" on Westwood Recordings.^[56] K+Lab launched "The Booty Galactic Album" Tour, performing in countries like England, Germany, France, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
