Lali Barriére, born 1964.[1], (Eulalia Barriére Figueroa[2])is a Spanish musician, coder and mathematician. She is a professor at the Department of Mathematics, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and the BAU Design College of Barcelona. She combines her artistic activity in the field of digital art and music with teaching Mathematics, creative programming and research. Her research focuses on the area of graph theory and communication algorithms. She is currently interested in the relationship between art and mathematics, from the point of view in creative programming, the history of computational art[5], and the relations between order and randomness in art. Her actual research projects are “Art, mathematics, technology Mathematics in the art of the 20th and 21st centuries. Information and Communication Techologies applied to art. Creative programming. Mathematics for artists. Mathematics, learning, and creativity.“ and “Discrete mathematics and algorithms Algebraic graph theory, symmetry in graphs, communication in networks, distributed algorithms, mobile agents, combinatorial geometry.” Lali Barriére works with virtual instruments coded in Pure Data just as with acoustic and amplified objects. In her solo project, she focuses in improvisation with amplified objects. For her visual part of her audiovisual artistic work she uses Processing[6], a flexible software sketchbook for coding within the context of the visual arts. She as well teaches Processing since 2008. Within visual arts she is interested in generative design, particle systems and programming of physics simulations, computational treatment of color, hardware and software interaction and data visualization. Musical and artistic WorkLali Barriére works as a solo-performer in the field of noise, music hacking and circuit bending. She plays the Guitaret, e.g. on the Chicks on Speed album "Press the Space Bar". Besides her solo-performances she collaborates with many different artists. Actual projects are A=B[7] with Ferran Fages, blaast with Alfredo Costa Monteiro and un coup de dés with Marta Sainz. In her past she worked together with Eduard Márquez (ziz), Juan Matos Capote (árum), Josema Urós and Olga Ábalos (Grus) and was part of “pad” together with Panotxa, Boris Porter, Josema Urßos, Miki Espuma, Enric Juncá and Ferran Bauló.
