In Leon's high school years, O'Leary attended Saxmundham Free School where his passion for music flourished [2]. In 2016, O'Leary took part in a local battle of the bands competition in Trinity Park, Ipswich, where he competed with other local bands. Leon O’Leary won the acoustic category as well as honours for best overall performance which was rewarded with a studio tour and meeting with record producer judge Cenzo Townshend[3]. 2017-presentIn 2017, O'Leary started performing at festivals in and around Suffolk. During the summer of 2017, Leon took part in the Lord Mayor's Busk In London competition performing around the city [4], at venues such as Westfield Shepherds Bush. In 2018, O'Leary became part of the Sonic Youths Program, a program based in Norwich dedicated to promoting young local musicians, where he represented them and the Norwich Arts Council at gigs in Norfolk[5]. On 25th August, Leon performed at HOAX's Bank Holiday Party alongside musicians such as Fick As Fieves, Alfie Indra, Caswell and RATS [6] [7]. On 12th September, BBC introducing Suffolk played a demo version of his song 'Empty Space'[8]. During November, O'Leary started recording his first single 'Ivy' at home with sister/vocal harmonist Issy O'Leary [9]. In on January 25th 2019, Leon released 'Ivy'[10].
