Early life and education

Lisa Wade was born on 30 September 1990 in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire.

She was educated at Robert Manning Technology College and Bourne Grammar School, moving onto study for a Bachelors degree in History at the University of Nottingham, and a MPhil in Modern European History at the University of Cambridge.[2]

In her time at University, she became involved in Conservative Party politics through Nottingham University Conservative Association.

RoadTrip 2015

Wade claims to have previously reported these concerns to Conservative Campaign Headquarters in 2015, as allegations emerged regarding shamed activist Mark Clarke and the RoadTrip campaign following the 2015 General Election. After doing so, she received direct person threats from the persons named in her complaint and believes the details of her complaint was leaked to that person by a senior party member.[3] In disgust, she resigned her party membership and has had no further involvement in Conservative Party politics. On her Twitter page, Wade describes herself as a 'recovering ex-Tory politico' and can regularly be observed criticising the Conservative Party.[1]

The Conservative Party & alleged sexual abuse

In 2016, Wade claimed she was raped by a man known to her, who worked for a senior Member of Parliament. She immediately reported the incident to the Metropolitan Police.[3] The attack left her sustaining whiplash-style injuries and led to significant psychological distress.[4]

After her attacker was charged with multiple counts of rape, she subsequently contacted the Clerk of the House of Commons to express her concerns regarding the behaviour she had witnessed on and around the Parliamentary Estate. This included witnessing Members of Parliament and their aides plying young women with large quantities of alcohol. Wade was promised that her concerns would be passed onto the then Chief Whip Gavin Williamson and Leader of the House of Commons Andrea Leadsom, but heard nothing back from them until approached by the media.[5]

The case against her alleged attacker was later dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service.[6]

Media Appearances

On 14 November 2017, Lisa Wade appeared on the Victoria Derbyshire show on BBC2 to discuss a phone call from Andrea Leadsom. Wade stated that she felt the Leadsom's apology and promises to crack down on the negative culture within Parliament were too long in coming, and that Parliamentary and Party Authorities had been aware of allegations of misconduct for years, only being seen to act as pressure was applied by the media.
