She co-hosts the feminist speculative fiction podcast, Breaking the Glass Slipper, which was nominated for the British Fantasy Award – Best Audio in 2018.[4] Her sister Laura is also an author.[5] Early life and educationHounsom earned a BA and an MA in English and Creative Writing from Royal Holloway, University of London.[6] The Worldmaker TrilogyHounsom's debut Starborn, published in 2015 by Tor UK, was the first novel in what was to become The Worldmaker Trilogy. The trilogy follows protagonist Kyndra as she discovers she has rare magic powers and their origins. Kyndra is can command great power, but will she use it to create or destroy? The series has been likened to writing by classic fantasy authors such as David Eddings and Trudi Canavan.[7] The first two novels in the series were contracted by Tor in 2013,[8] with the final book in the trilogy published in 2017[9].
