Maciej Szczepaniak started racing in 1995 as a rally driver, but in the same year he became a co-driver. In 1999 he made his debut with driver Tomasz Kuchar in the World Rally Championship starting in the San Remo Rally. Their partnership lasted from 1999 to 2003. In 2003 he became the pilot of Janusz Kulig. This cooperation was interrupted when Kulig had a serious accident. Because of this, Szczepaniak spent the next three seasons of the Polish Rally Championship with driver Leszek Kuzaj. Since 2007, he has been piloting Michał Kościuszko. In 2014 he became the pilot of Robert Kubica in WRC competitions.
