With a style greatly influenced by J.J. Cale, Bob Dylan, and Lou Reed, Mahdi finds a way to bring back the sounds and subject matter of another time.[1] BiographyMahdi Khene was born in Algiers, Algeria. At the age of one, he moved with his family to New York City. He started playing the guitar at the age of 14. He attributes his song writing style to having been a self taught musician. A troubadour at heart, he has been traveling from place to place, spending time in Maryland, D.C, Paris, Barcelona, Berlin, and Virginia only to make a full circle and find himself back in New York. He now lives in Manhattan, where he performs his latest Folk/Rock albums and composes original scores for films and documentaries. CareerIn 2014, Khene was interviewed in Huffpost Maghreb for a protest song he wrote about the Ferguson riots.[1] Khene was featured in Indie Rock Cafe's "In Dee Mail" series regarding the song "Over Now".[2] Bisnow online magazine features a concert Mahdi did with Sofar Sounds in Crystal City, Virginia.[3] Although Mahdi has released various singles, using online platforms such as Soundcloud, Youtube, and Bandcamp, he has yet to officially release an album. He has released his first EP on Spotify in 2018 and is currently working on his debut album.[4] Works
