Marcus Plautius Silvanus, Roman senator and praetor is 24 CE; son of Marcus Plautius Silvanus, Roman consul in 2BCE.

First married Fabia Numantina, but the couple divorced before 24 CE, when Silvanus was accused of murdering his new wife Apronia, daughter of Lucius Apronius.

The events are recounted in Tacitus' Annals Book IV, Ch 22, recounts that Silvanus was brought before the Emperor by his father-in-law Lucius Apronius for allegedly murdering Apronia "for reasons not ascertained," by flinging her out of the window. Marcus Plautius Silvanus' response was to say that he had been asleep and was unaware of the circumstances leading to her death, saying that she had perhaps committed suicide.

The murder was investigated by emperor Tiberius himself, who investigating the couple's bedroom, discovered proof of a scuffle, and therefore referred the case to the Senate for trial.

Silvanus' grandmother Urgulania, who was a close friend of the Livia Augusta, sent him a dagger, and thus encouraging him to commit suicide. As she was close with the Imperial family, the gesture was considered as good as having come from the Emperor himself. He took the hint, and cut his wrists.

Shortly after the murder of Apronia, Silvanus' first wife Fabia Numantina was "charged with having caused her husband's insanity by magical incantations and potions", presumably by his family, but was acquitted.
