Personal LifeChiara Corazza was born in Parma [1] on 4th December 1959 to Giacomo Corazza Martini, a Professor of Economics and Gabriella Giovanoni, art critic and psychiatrist. She has two sisters, Christina Corazza and Anna Maria Corazza, and a brother Carlo Corazza. She attended the French School, St.Dominique in Rome. Chiara Corazza went on to enrol at the University of Rome[2], pursuing her studies in Political Science and graduating in 1984. In June 1984, she married Bernard Poujade[3], Professor of Law and French Lawyer and has since had 2 children: Flavia (born 1985) and Robert Alexandre (born 1986). Her hobbies include sports, especially skiing and tennis, as well as travel. She speaks 5 languages (Italian, French, English, Spanish and German) fluently. [4] Professional LifeOn her graduation, she was appointed the Professor of German (beginner to fluent). She also simultaneously worked as a journalist at the “Daily American” in Rome. [5] In 1980, Chiara Corazza joined the desk of economic international affairs at Il Globo[6], the leading Italian economic paper at the time – following the Falkland and Lebanese War, as well as portraits of officials such as Margaret Thatcher among others. In this time, she also created the first rubrique illustrating international opinions on Italian issues. Upon her arrival in France in 1985, Chiara Corazza was appointed Special Counselor for International Affairs to the President of the Greater Paris Region[7]. In this position she created Metropolis, the first world association of large metropolitan areas. She also planned and implemented Greater Paris Region international policy, specializing in government affairs and urban management. [8] In 1992, Chiara Corazza created the Department of International Affairs and was promoted to Director for International Affairs in the Greater Paris Region. During the following 15 years, she initiated, negotiated, and successfully managed economic bilateral cooperation agreements with Beijing, Beirut, Buenos Aires, Budapest, Dakar, Hanoi, Johannesburg, Mexico City, Montreal, Moscow, New Delhi, Santiago, Tokyo, and Warsaw, among others. In 1994, she created the first Greater Paris Region representative in Brussels and initiated a network uniting Europe’s capital regions. In 1999, Chiara Corazza was appointed Director of International Affairs of Paris 2008, in charge of promoting the Paris bid for the 2008 Olympic Games Chiara Corazza was the Managing Director of the Greater Paris Investment Agency (GPIA) from 2002-2016, in charge of attracting foreign investors to the Greater Paris Region and enhancing its attractiveness by mobilizing political and economic decision makers. In that frame, she was the “economic Ambassador” of the Capital Region, creating an essential gateway between the public and private institutions. As Managing Director, Chiara Corazza elaborated investment strategy, conducted road shows abroad with large international companies, and organized global forums in Paris and worldwide. She also conducted regular global benchmark studies that have become a reference worldwide, and organizes impactful task forces. The success of the “Grand Paris” economic development project is at the core of GPIA’s activities. [9] Since January 2017, Chiara Corazza has been the CEO of the Women’s Forum for the Economy and Society, the world's leading platform that brings in some of the most outstanding men and women from across the world to build bridges between generations, countries and cultures. Under her leadership, the Women’s Forum Global Meeting created the Strategic Committee and the Daring Circles. She also made an important shift from convening in Deauville to Paris, France to reach a wider international audience, alongside increasing international regional Meetings.
