Martin Fisher is an English football commentator best known for his work on BBC TV's iconic Match of the Day. He was born in Derby and studied at Liverpool University. RADIO DAYSFisher began his media work on BBC local radio in the Midlands and went on to become Sports Editor at Radio Nottingham. He was the main commentator on Nottingham Forest and Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club. He gained national recognition with three nominations at the Sony Radio awards and was runner-up to Jonathan Agnew as Reporter of the Year. SKY SPORTS TVFisher left the BBC in 1999 to join Sky Sports as a reporter on the Cricket World Cup. He describes the highlight as interviewing Australia's captain Steve Waugh on the eve of their victory in the Final. He went on to work for Sky Sports News in the Midlands and began commentating on the Premier League for "Goals on Sunday". BBC MATCH OF THE DAYFisher joined the BBC as a freelance football commentator when "Match of the Day" returned to the screens in 2004. As well as being a regular voice on Premier League and FA Cup games he has also worked on the World Cup Finals and the Olympics as well as the African Cup of Nations. OTHER MEDIABetween 2005 and 2012 Fisher worked on Champions league and Premier League games for Setanta Ireland. He also covered EURO 2012.
