Vanderploeg is the CEO and Founder of Workiva, a publicly traded software-as-a-service company.[1][2][3] Animation and VisualizationIn 1989, Vanderploeg co-founded Engineering Animation Incorporated (EAI) and served as the company’s Chief Technology Officer from 1989 to 1999 and as its Executive Vice President from 1993 to 2000.[4][5] During the late 1990's, EAI established itself in the field of 3D renderings and animations. As CTO, Vanderploeg led EAI’s’ development of computer graphics tools that were adapted for use in crime scene reconstruction,[6] 3D animations of human anatomy, CAD applications in automotive design, computer games and other applications.[7] EAI went public in 1996, trading under the symbol EAII on NASDAQ. In 2000 it was sold to Unigraphics Solutions (now part of Siemens USA).[8] CareerIn 2008, Vanderploeg and other partners launched WebFilings, an enterprise risk management and corporate reporting software company. Webfilings changed its name in 2014 to Workiva.
