Education

Born in Calgary and raised in Montreal, Goodman received a B.Sc. from McGill University and M.Sc from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism. He was a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University in the class of 1962[https://nieman.harvard.edu/alumni/class-of-1962/].

Awards

Goodman was awarded the Order of Canada (1981) [https://www.gg.ca/en/honours/recipients/146-2794], Columbia University’s Journalism Alumni Award (1981) [https://journalism.columbia.edu/system/files/content/past-aaw.pdf], and an Honorary Doctor of Laws from King's College Halifax(1981). He was inducted into the Canadian News Hall of Fame posthumously in 1982.
