Megan Aileen Morrison, aka Morrison, born March 29th, 1984 is an American singer/songwriter, actor, model, and fire performer originally from Maine and currently based in Miami, FL.[1]

Early Years

Megan began performing at a young age, getting her start in musical theater appearing in plays in high school and college. Before music, she studied vocal performance at the University of Massachusetts and then at Hunter College in New York City. She began performing with rock and punk bands in her spare time and it was then that she realized her true passion in life -- songwriting and performing live.[2]

Music Career

She moved to Miami in 2009 to pursue her music career and formed the band Dorothy’s Surrender as the lead singer and songwriter on their debut album titled Late Bloomer in 2012. The song “Dirty Stayout” really reflects the band’s heavily grunge and rock and roll image. Megan even caught the eye of Miami New Times, and they featured her in an article titled, “Seven Completely Awesome Female-Fronted Miami Bands”. The article deems Megan, “gothic yet glamorous onstage presence combined with a rebellious attitude”[3]

After the band broke up, Megan joined a folk band called Revolver and wrote songs off the band’s album that has yet to be released.[4] The sound of this band was more disco/funk compared to the ultra grunge band she was in prior. Her sound was evolving, and she was inspired by the sounds of classic rock, like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and The Doors.[5]

Changing her name to simply “Morrison”, Megan is focusing on her solo career. As a fire performer, she has worked with Pitbull, Jessie J, and Elvis Crespo.[6] She released her new single “Heart on Fire” in November 2018, and the video released in December 2018, which highlights her skills as a professional fire performer.[7] The single was a cathartic moment for the singer, as she says her inspiration for the song comes from her past struggles with addiction and anxiety. Her alcohol addiction took over most of her life, and music aided heavily in her recovery and continued sobriety.

This song has many meanings for Megan, and she wants her fans to leave the song up to their interpretation. The song has received positive reviews, as Floorshime Zipper Boots calls it a “sultry darkish feel and the whole thing is a perfect vehicle for this singer, model and...fire dancer”[8] Megan was recognized in the Miami New Times article “Five Miami Women Artists to Watch on International Women’s Day”, with the article calling her a “quintuple threat” as a singer/songwriter, multi- instrumentalist, model, and fire performer.[9]

Upcoming Projects

Megan will be releasing her first full-length solo album in Spring 2019.
