Metal Babe Mayhem

(originally Metal Babe Productions) is an American online company specializing in counterculture-related clothing, jewelry, and accessories, as well as music promotion. The company offers independent, licensed, and custom products, and sells both retail and wholesale. Their customers are primarily interested in rock music and music related products. Most are located in the United States, with a large number in Russia, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Canada. The age range is primarily 30 to 50, with a secondary range of 19 to 29. Sixty percent of the audience is female, and the remaining forty percent is male.

Metal Babe Productions was established as a partnership on September 21, 2006 in Los Angeles, California by Alison Masson (Cohen) and Christine Salas (Corcoran). Alison Masson restructured the company as a sole proprietorship in 2008; changing the name to Metal Babe Mayhem.

When the Metal Babe Mayhem logo was initially established in 2007, the

lips/bones logo was a pinkish tone, with the slogan “Taking Over The World… One Shirt At A Time.” In 2014 the company updated the logo to a darker burgundy and changed the slogan to “Where Music And Fashion Meet.”

On May 24th, 2017 Masson partnered with business consultant Chris Mulford to form the music promotion division of the company; MBM Music LLC.

On November 15th, 2017 MBM Music LLC partnered with Bill Chavis and HighVol Music.[1]

In early 2018 Metal Babe Mayhem added three freelance writers to the company: Leah Burlington, Shawna La’Jame, and Francisco Zamudio. Leah Burlington is also a staff photographer for MBM Music LLC.

Product assortment and sales

The company caters to a niche audience, reflective of various alternative culture and pop culture (including geek culture) trends. The first products available in 2007 included a t-shirt with the company’s lips/bones staple logo (designed by Bill Bronson) and a guitar pick necklace. Since 2007, the company has added 27 additional designs available on an assortment of merchandise.

In addition, the company sells products from Alchemy Gothic, Al Bane for Leather, Shrine Clothing, and Hilary’s Vanity. Metal Babe Mayhem also carries licensed jewelry from Motorhead, Pink Floyd, Slayer, AC/DC, David Bowie, Blondie, and more.

Wholesale options are available for retailers. Current retailers include: Card Heaven (Studio City, CA.) Crozz Bonez (Parker, AZ.), Dark Delicacies (Burbank, CA.), Glad Rags (St. Charles, MO.) Ravens & Rockers (Tampa, FL.) and The Rockin’ Edge (Camarillo, CA.).

Manufacturing options are available. Metal Babe Mayhem has manufactured merchandise for: Pretty Boy Floyd, Randy Rhoads Remembered, Brian Tichy, Edge of Paradise, etc.

The Metal Babe Mayhem website includes interviews and reviews written by the company’s CEO and its Journalists. Metal Babe Mayhem began the Metal Babe Mayhem Monthly Playlist January 1st, 2013, which showcases 15 to 20 unsigned musicians monthly.

Metal Babe Mayhem launched a pin-up series In January of 2016 with artist Bill Bronson, releasing 12 designs monthly which depict rock, music, and current Metal Babe Mayhem related fashion.

Metal Babe Mayhem partnered with Actress, Scream Queen, Life & Dating Coach, and Author, Brooke Lewis, to launch their ‘Rock Your Hot Mess’ clothing line September 16th, 2016 in conjunction with the release of Brooke’s latest book Coaching From A Professed Hot Mess.[7]

The company partnered with Actress, Scream Queen, Life & Dating Coach, and Author Brooke Lewis three additional times since their initial launch. Additional ventures include:

Metal Babe Mayhem collaborated with Al Bane for Leather for The NAMM Show in 2017 to launch the “Studded Star” guitar strap. Previous collaborations include a clip on purse, fringed cuff, and “Studded Star” belt.[11]

Indie Scene Radio became the official sponsor of the Metal Babe Mayhem Playlist on May 1st, 2017 and contributes five songs monthly.

On May 24th, 2017 Masson partnered with business consultant Chris Mulford to form the music promotion division of the company; MBM Music LLC. The MBM Music LLC slogan is “You Create. We Promote. Plug Into The Network.” The company’s vision statement is “To provide independent artists a platform to be seen and heard, while assisting with necessary products, services, and fashion, in an effort to increase exposure, fan base, and income.” A monthly subscription service is offered that includes three different packages, in addition to custom options. Current Clients include Every Mother’s Nightmare, Cage & Focx, DC4, The Militants, Al Bane for Leather, LIT SOUL, etc.

Metal Babe Mayhem collaborated with Corners of Sanctuary for the “Kiss Your Ass Goodbye” limited edition tour shirt to coincide with COS’ latest album “The Galloping Hordes,” and commemorate the band’s first tour of Europe August 2018.[12]

Metal Babe Mayhem will be expanding in the fall of 2018 to include a second division, MBM Max. This division will cater to well-known entertainers in an effort to personalize interactions with their fan base, and will offer street team and fan club organization, in addition to other specialized services. The MBM Max vision statement is: “To provide specialized, custom and unique services to help those that are established in the Entertainment Industry to personally and tangibly connect to their fans.”

Metal Babe Mayhem has been featured on VH1 Classic’s ‘That Metal Show’ by Miss Box of Junk (Jennifer Leah Gottlieb).[16]

The company has also been featured in the following music videos: L.A. Guns “Speed,”[17] Gilby Clarke “Tijuana Jail”[18]from Pawnshop Guitars, and Nova Rex “She’s A Bitch.” Metal Babe Mayhem was also featured in Dead Camp.[19]
