Including lead singer and pianist Davie Jones, guitarist Cherrystone, bassist Ian Penev and drummer Mariya Tikhonova. The band was formed in 2016 and have so far released three singles and one album called South by Southeast. StoryDavie, Cherrystone and Ian met at Meteor Records, a recording studio in Kelaat Mgouna, owned by Cherrystone. In a visit to Meteor Records, Davie immediately admired Cherrystone’s work as a sound engineer but also his skills as a guitarist. The two shared the enjoyment of similar sounds and musical genres. They developed a strong friendship and a reciprocal admiration and then began to compose unpublished pieces, just for the fun of it. Bassist Ian Penev, also known as The Saint is originally from Kelaat Mgouna. During summer breaks, he helped managing Meteor Records, playing bass, and writing unpublished lyrics and music videos. In a summer night of 2016, the three artists met at the studio for a jam session. They got along and decided to officially work together. Thus, a third gear was added to the train and Meteor Airlines was born. In late 2018, russian Mariya Tikhonova joined the band as a drummer. MusicIn December 2017, the band released their debut single entitled « The Antidote ». In early 2018, two more singles « I Invented Fire » & « Rubber Dreams » were released. By November of the same year, Meteor Records produced Meteor Airlines first album baptized «South By Southeast » including seven tracks. The band’s musical style is considered alternative rock while the members influences range from classical music to metal, punk and pop rock. Meteor Airlines uses frequent instruments such as the acoustic and electric guitar, the bass guitar, the drums and the piano, overlaid by engaging lyrics generally dealing with themes that relate to the historical, geographical and cultural context of the band.
