Michael Twomey is a former businessman and startup entrepreneur from Brisbane, Australia. In May of 2018, at Brisbane's Myriad festival.[1], Twomey launched a "customer data platform" called SOOW.[2] Twomey claimed to have raised nearly $10-million in investment, in part thanks to Blue Ocean Equities of Sydney.[2] In November of 2018, SOOW signed a two year, $2-million sponsorship deal with the Brisbane Lions.[3] SOOW's corporate messaging was centred around "creating trust"[4] and "treat[ing] people well"[5] In December of 2018, American Express sued Twomey in Brisbane District Court over allegedly unpaid debts. In February of 2019, SOOW began to unravel. Having not received any money, the Brisbane Lions severed the sponsorship deal, and are presently launching legal proceedings against SOOW for unpaid bills. Alleging that they hadn't been paid, and had even received fake remittances, various employees also lodged legal complaints. A New York-based marketing firm are also owed $290,000 by SOOW in outstanding invoices.[2] Twomey has yet to comment on SOOW's current condition or future prospects.
