Dr. Michelle Alvarado has been an assistant professor at the University of Florida in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering since August of 2017.^[1] Past positions include Visiting Assistant Professor (Sept. 2015-Aug. 2017) and a Postdoctoral Research Associate (Dec. 2014- Sept. 2015) at Texas A&M University in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering.^[2] Dr. Alvarado’s main research interests are integrated simulation and optimization techniques in healthcare decision-making.^[1]

Educational Background

Dr. Alvarado acquired a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Alabama (2008). Dr. Alvarado went on to obtain a Master of Engineering in Industrial Engineering (2010) and a Ph. D. in Industrial Engineering (2014) from Texas A&M University.^[2]

Research Interests

Dr. Alvarado's research interests are Integrated Simulation and Mean-Risk Stochastic Integer Programming, Financial Engineering of Health Policy Models for Reducing Hospital Readmissions, Outpatient and Inpatient Scheduling and Flow, Remote Health Monitoring of Chronic Diseases, and Analysis of a Queueing System with Degrading Server Networks.^[2]
