Midnite Hellion is a US Heavy Metal band from Trenton, NJ. Formed in 2011, the group is known for its dedication to Heavy Metal, high-energy live performances, and for their tireless work ethic.

BiographyThe Fever (2011-2012)

Midnite Hellion was formed on April 4th, 2011 by drummer Drew Rizzo, who set out to form a band inspired by all of his musical influences instead of being pigeonholed into a single category. He quickly recruited a line-up including singer Sonny Zackeo, guitarists Amadeus Zajac and Dan Sclavi, and bassist Bill Dripps. The band set up headquarters at The Muse, a rehearsal studio in Trenton, NJ that was operated by fellow Trenton Heavy Metal band, [https://www.facebook.com/IronFrontUs/ Iron Front]. Zajac was unable to continue, and Mario DiBartolo was brought in initially as a temporary guitarist and would stay with the band on and off for the next several years.

The lineup recorded the demo cassette, The Fever, which was released on November 17th, 2011 on Hels' Trash Industries (a division of Paragon Records) at a hometown concert supporting Obituary. The Fever featured a cover of Iron Maiden's "Invaders," one of two songs from The Number Of The Beast that have never been performed live. The initial pressing of 100 copies sold out within three weeks, leading to a second pressing shortly thereafter.

They quickly sprung upon the live front and supported numerous landmark events, including the very first two east coast appearances of Morbid Saintand the second-ever US performance from Artillery. Becoming a staple band in the NYC Tri-State region, Midnite Hellion began to outdraw National Acts at their concerts. They caught the attention of German label Else's Metalecke, who pressed a third and final pressing of The Fever exclusively for the Keep It True festival in 2012.

Enter The Unknown (2012)

While promoting The Fever, Midnite Hellion began recording their follow-up EP, Enter The Unknown. During the recording process, singer Sonny Zackeo left the band in April 2012 to join Iron Front. A friend of the band, singer Scott Alpert, temporarily joined in June 2012 to complete the recording and to perform live for the next several months. His first performance was two weeks after joining, alongside Blood Feast, Deceased, and Deathrash.

Enter The Unknown was released on September 29th, 2012 on Else's Metalecke, and was followed by the Enter The Evilution US tour with [https://www.facebook.com/real.prime.evil/ Prime Evil]in October. Alpert departed following the tour and DiBartolo departed after his last concert in January 2013, which was broadcasted worldwide on Metal Thunder Radio. The sold-out event was held at [https://eventbritesites.com/tf/saintvitusbar/ Saint Vitus Bar] in Brooklyn, NY, and also featured Malignancy, Prime Evil, and Deceased.

Hour Of The Wolf (2013-2014)

Midnite Hellion recruited lead guitarist Nick DiGiovacchino and began 2013 with regional dates, first supporting Diamond Head during their first US tour in March, and later supporting the first US appearance of OZ in May, with [https://www.facebook.com/AttackerBand/ Attacker], and [https://www.facebook.com/October31Metal/ October 31] Midnite Hellion then signed a deal with the reactivated cult German record label, Witches Brew, and began work on the Hour Of The Wolf 7" single with singer PJ Berlinghof. In August, they entered The Sound of Revolution Studios with Len Carmichael and the single was released on Black Friday, November 29th, 2013. Regional dates supporting Raven and Toxic Holocaust closed out the year.

In April 2014, they were invited to perform at the sold-out two-day Ragnarökkr Metal Apocalypse Festival in Chicago, IL, alongside Grim Reaper (their first US appearance since 1987, the first time live with Nick Bowcott on guitar since reforming, and the only time they performed their song, Grab Your Garmin), RIOT, Picture, Black Death Resurrected, and more. The following month, they supported the first US appearance of Toxik since their reformation.

In the Fall, Midnite Hellion was rejoined by Alpert and DiBartolo and performed at the Starland Ballroom (the largest night club in New Jersey) for the first time, supporting OverKill, Municipal Waste, and Prong. They closed out the year once again supporting Raven, as well as the Neil Turbin-fronted version of Onslaught and Artillery.

Condemned To Hell (2015-2017)

After spending majority of 2015 composing new music, lead guitarist Jeremy Moles was recruited in October 2015 and made his live debut supporting Enforcer and Warbringer in January 2016. Moles introduced bassist and singer Rich Kubik to the lineup in April, and Midnite Hellion became a power trio for the first time in their career. After summer regional dates supporting Anvil and Jag Panzer, Midnite Hellion spent the rest of 2016 finishing composing for their first full-length album, Condemned To Hell. The band entered Landmine Studios with Len Carmichael again at the helm in late November and drum tracking was paused to support Flotsam & Jetsam, Helstar, and [https://www.facebook.com/hatchetofficial/ Hatchet].

Tragedy struck within the Trenton Metal Scene when Shawn Lydon, the lead guitarist of Iron Front, was diagnosed with leukemia at the age of 28. As Rizzo was longtime friends with Lydon and the rest of the band, he organized two benefit concerts to raise money for Lydon's growing medical expenses.

While continuing to track Condemned To Hell as time permitted, Midnite Hellion returned to the Starland Ballroom in support of Dirkschneider, which featured the U.D.O. lineup performing Accept material for the last time. Six days after the performance, Lydon sadly passed away, and the band dedicated their upcoming concerts and album to his memory. Rizzo obtained two of Lydon's guitars, an ESP custom shop Explorer and ESP custom shop Flying V, which are going to be immortalize Lydon's memory even further on future Midnite Hellion recordings.

Condemn The East Coast Tour 2017 followed in March in support of the upcoming release, as well as another return to Starland Ballroom in May, this time in support of Yngwie J. Malmsteen. This performance saw the return of DiBartolo and the departure of Moles, who had parted to concentrate on his studies and upcoming internships. A few weeks later, Midnite Hellion made their live debut in Manhattan, which took place at the legendary Gramercy Theatre to a near-capacity crowd, and they spent the rest of the summer preparing for the upcoming promotional cycle for Condemned To Hell.

Condemned To Hell was released on September 15th, 2017 on Witches Brew, and a record release concert was held at Starland Ballroom with Exodus, Obituary, and Power Trip, which had Midnite Hellion supporters and friends coming in from all over the world for the event. Sadly, the fanfare was short-lived, as tragedy yet again struck the band. Just before the album went to press, the head of Witches Brew's husband had slipped into a coma, which in turn shut down the label.

Condemned To Hell also featured a bonus track that made it to the album. Films reached out to Rizzo about assisting him with the musical score for his upcoming film, [https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5904064/reference Teenage Bloodsuckin' Bimbos], as the film had an 80's Metal feel to the script. In addition to becoming the film's musical director, Rizzo offered to compose an original song for the film.

Lead guitarist Mark Siedlecki joined in October, and the band finished out the year with an appearance at a showcase hosted by Don Jamieson of That Metal Show. The band was nominated for and received a spot on the Combat Records Bullets Vol. 1.0 compilation, which was reformed by David Ellefson of Megadeth and producer Thom Hazaert, and was the first release on the new label.

2018

With a new lineup secured, the band began writing for their upcoming follow-up to Condemned To Hell. Regional headlining and direct support dates followed, including at a second Don Jamieson showcase at the Brighton Bar in Long Branch, NJ, Sparta Inn in Sparrows Point, MD, Debonair Music Hall in Teaneck, NJ, and Brooklyn Bazaar in Brooklyn, NY. At their appearance at the Johnny G. Music Awards at Al Cibelli's in Perth Amboy, NJ, they received the award for the Best Heavy Metal Band. During this time, they signed a management deal with Damon Moreno of the [https://www.innerlightagency.com/ Inner Light Agency].

After supporting Ross The Boss of Manowar, Midnite Hellion will enter the studio to record a brand-new single, and will spend the rest of the summer completing their upcoming full-length album.

Midnite Hellion ended the year with their first tour of the Midwest and Mountain regions, supporting Otep and The World Over in December 2018.
