Ronald Ellis Jr., known professionally as Mista Roe, is an R&B singer/songwriter and actor from Shreveport, Louisiana. He is known informally as "The RnB King of Shreveport".^[1] He was born on May 12, 1983 to Ronald Ellis Sr. and Dana Ellis (now Dana Burnside) and grew up in the Queensborough community.^[2]

Before his solo project, Mista Roe was the lead singer of Chocolate River (Shreveport band) and co-founded the group 214-Rush. When the group disbanded, he pursued a solo career.^[3] Mista Roe released his first solo mixtape in 2009 which sold over ten thousand copies underground; his second mixtape sold nearly twenty thousand copies underground. His debut album Talladega Muziq was released in 2013 with the follow-up The RnB King of Shreveport released in May 2015.^[4] Following that he went on a brief hiatus, after which he re-released the album on September 1, 2017 following his father's death.^[5] The re-release of The RnB King of Shreveport was the first album released to national retailers by a Shreveport RnB artist in seventeen years, since Profyle's Nothin' But Drama in 2000.^[6],^[7] The album debuted at #55 in the R&B Top 100 on the iTunes charts.^[8]

Mista Roe is also the CEO of Mista Roe Music Group, Inc., a label launched in March 2017 after his departure from Ground Up Records. He signed a distribution deal with Illustra Distribution in partnership with Sony RED. He has worked with notable producers including Samuel "Knucklehead" Irving (who received a platinum plaque for his work with August Alsina and was named BMI’s 2014 “Producer of the Year”)^[9] and Emmanuel "Eman" Anene (also a platinum plaque holder; Anene has worked with Stevie Wonder, Dondria, Daddy Yankee, and Slim of 112).^[10], ^[11]

In May 2017, Mista Roe performed as a co-headliner on the "Ladies Night Out" tour in Albuquerque, New Mexico with platinum recording artists H-Town, 112, Jon B., and Hi-Five[NMBH]. Mista Roe will embark on the Bees and Birds Tour from May 31, 2018 to August 18, 2018. The tour will include 37 cities across the United States, with special celebrity guests appearing at each show; a portion of the proceeds from the tour will be donated to the American Cancer Society in honor of Mista Roe's father[https://hype.news/mista-roe-music-group-inc/press-release-for-immediate-release/s-1476053400]. Mista Roe stars on the AMC / UMC TV series 5th Ward The Series as Mike Batts. Filmed in Houston, the show is based on real stories in the historically black Fifth Ward community. The series also stars Carl Anthony Payne, Nephew Tommy, Gary Sturgis, Corr Kendricks, and Grammy-winning R&B artist Mýa. Mista Roe has three music placements in season one of 5th Ward.^[12] He has also been picked up for the TV series Waters Rising.
