About MobiSystems

MobiSystems is an IT company, specialized in mobile application development..[1] Based in San Diego, California[2], it has developed over 300 apps[3][4] on various software platforms. History

MobiSystems was founded by two students from Sofia University[1] in 2001[7]. Today, besides the headquarters in San Diego, California, the company has offices in the United Kingdom, Bulgaria[8] and Hong Kong[9].

The company’s first apps, such MobiSystems Docs[10], were designed for Palm OS[1][7]. Afterwards, MobiSystems developed several dictionary apps until it became an official Oxford University Press publisher for dictionaries in digital format[11]. This partnership added dictionaries like Oxford Dictionary of English, [https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobisystems.msdict.embedded.wireless.oxford.spanish Oxford Dictionary of Spanish] and [https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobisystems.msdict.embedded.wireless.oxford.french Oxford French Dictionary] to MobiSystems' portfolio.

In the following years, the company developed dictionary apps in association with [https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobisystems.msdict.embedded.wireless.collins.englishfreemium Collins], Houghton Mifflin Harcourt[12], [https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobisystems.msdict.embedded.wireless.webster.dictandthes Webster’s New World] and VOX ([https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobisystems.msdict.embedded.wireless.mcgrawhill.qmdt2014 McGraw-Hill]) to reach the present times with over 300 published dictionary titles for different platforms, including iOS[3] and Android[4] devices. In 2004, the company released OfficeSuite. Initially, the app worked on Palm OS, mainly as a reader, but in 2005, it made its debut on Nokia's Symbian devices[13] and was later introduced on Android and iOS. In 2009, Sony subcontracted MobiSystems to develop an office solution for their Xperia devices[14], which marked the introduction of OfficeSuite on Android. The partnership is still ongoing[15], with OfficeSuite being pre-installed on Sony's smartphones[16] and tablets[17].

In 2016, OfficeSuite was officially released for Windows[18]. In the same year, MobiSystems acquired the Russian[19] email client [https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.kman.AquaMail Aqua Mail][20]. In Q1 of 2018, a partnership with Huawei was started; as a result, some of MobiSystems' apps can be found pre-installed on multiple Huawei mobile devices[21]. Awards

In 2014, MobiSystems was featured as one of the 5,000 fastest growing private companies in America[23]. Next year, it was one of the finalists of the Forbes Business Awards in the business development category[24], as well as in the [https://www.businessawardseurope.com/ European Business Awards] in the category for Best employer in Bulgaria[25]

In 2017, the company won the Best App Store Listing award of The App Growth Awards, organized by App Promotion Summit[26].
