Like the first film, Mondo Cane 2 is documentary written and directed by Italian filmmakers Franco Prosperi and Gualtiero Jacopetti. The film follows the same format of the first, travelling the world seeing different cultural practices in an attempt to shock Western film audiences. There is no chronology to the different scenes, each being independent of the rest. Despite claims of genuine documentation, many scenes in the film are either staged or are manipulated.
