Montana Leigh Burgess (Wootton) was born November 3rd, 1997, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA. She was born to father, Bob Wootton, and mother, Vicky Wootton. Her father was the guitar player for Johnny Cash for over 30 years, and her mother played bass for the Carter Family for over 7 years. She was the youngest of two girls, her sister Scarlett is 14 years older. 3 days after Montana was born, Johnny Cash retired and left Bob without a job, so he began driving tour buses for the country's biggest entertainers. They moved from Oklahoma to Mississippi, where Vicky was from, to be close to Montana's grandmother. Montana grew up in Philadelphia, MS. A small town where everyone knew everyone and everything. She went to public school for only one year, and has a homeschool education from grade 1 until graduation. The Wootton's were a very close family, and practiced the Christian faith. After 7 years, the family decided to move to Nashville, TN, and begin to travel Montana began playing guitar when she was 8 years old and also started writing songs. At age 10, Montana was on stage with Bob Wootton and The Tennessee Three and she was able to travel the world. At age 11, Montana was partnering with Barbara Orbison and Still Working Music, but later learned that her father was sick and decided to stay home and be with him while she could. By the time Montana was 13, the Tennessee Three and Bob Wootton had stopped touring due to his illness, and Montana got to be just a normal teenager. Montana began to upload YouTube videos during her teenage years, and got to experiment with her own sound of music. Montana met her husband, Seth Burgess, when she was 12 years old. They were next door neighbors, and soon became sweethearts. Montana and Seth became engaged in July of 2016, and eloped in the Sumner County Courthouse in Gallatin, TN, on March 10th, 2017. On April 9th, 2017, Montana's father, Bob Wootton, passed away after fighting dementia for 7 years. Montana and the rest of the family were at his bedside as he passed. After taking her time to grieve, Montana began to write songs for her first album titled, "Battlefield". Montana released her first single on November 25th, 2018, and reached over 7,000 streams in just two weeks on her song, '2 a.m.'. Montana has just recently released her song, 'Ten Days', and is planning on releasing her first album on March 22nd, 2019.
