}}Movandi is an American venture backed startup company, founded by Maryam and Reza Rofougaran based in Newport Beach, California. The company is focused on solving the technical challenges of 5G high frequency and millimeter wave networks by providing scalable, integrated RF, antenna technology and systems. The business provides technology to carriers, handset providers, wired and wireless companies, and is embedded in semiconductor chips and systems.

Overview

The company was founded in 2016, by two siblings Maryam Rofougaran and Reza Rofougaran. Movandi’s BeamX solutions launched in 2018.[1][2]

Movandi builds mmWave antenna arrays that are more compact, more power-efficient over a wider power range, more spectrally efficient, and cheaper to produce.[3][4][5][6]

Movandi has 40 patents designed as a complete system combining the entire front-end and antenna system rather than a mix and match of individual components. They develop RF CMOS across cellular, microwave backhaul, wi-fi, Bluetooth, GPS/GNSS, NFC, Femto cell, and other standards including the integration of multiple standards into a single chip.[7][8][3][4][9]

In 2018, Movandi along with Qualcomm announced an optimized RF front-end (RFFE) module for millimeter-wave bands and said that it is working on a mmWave front end for handsets and announced a device to optimize 5G links across many use cases.[10][9]

In February 2019, Movandi announced the improvement of the coverage of high-band millimeter wave (mmWave) 5G by introducing its BeamXR repeater later this year that offers large-scale 5G coverage with few base stations and users may install 5G hardware on their own by using BeamXR.[11] It has built a 28GHz box with 39GHz box is in development to show off at the upcoming Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona: The product will be available to sample later this year.[12]
