Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia | Metro = | Blog = }} The Museum of Contemporary Art founded on March 14th, 1991, was found in the corner of Sucre and Potosi streets, four blocks from the Plaza 24 of September, you will find the Contemporary Art Museum (MAC), housed in Republican style built around 1919. The former family house was donated by the Frerking Osuna family to the Municipal Government for a public school. During the Chaco War it was a military hospital. Specializing in contemporary art, the Museum of Contemporary collection houses all tendencies that are part of Bolivian art; mainly from the second half of the 20th century to todaynt day. It has a patrimony of more than 300 works of art, consisting of paints, sculptures, drawings, engravings, which is a reflection of succesive generations of Bolivian and foreign artits in Bolivia. Since the 90s, latest tendencies of contemporary art become part of the Contemporary Art Museum collection, through the acquisition prices of the Visual and Plastic Art Biennale and the Municipal Govermment Price for painting and sculpture. These two events are important to keep the collection up to date. The museum is a cultural space that conserves, exhibit works of art, and promotes a taste for art to public in general. Visitors will find a lovely garden with sculptures, where you can rest and enjoy the vegetation. The Museum of Contemporary Art offers temporary exhibitions, guided visits, talk and workshops. Promotes a yearly art competition for young creators of diverse art expressions, activities for young children, and programs to incentivize taste for works of art. It is a non-profit organization depends from the municipal Government of Santa Cruz de la Sierra.
