She later received the 2017 award of excellence from GIFA (Gauteng Institute for Architecture) and the 2018 award of merit from SAIA (South African Institute of Architects).[3] Early life and educationTromp was born in Fishhoek, South Africa. She studied her undergraduate degree at the University of Cape Town, and then her master’s degree at Harvard University. After graduating and working at Noero Wolff architects under Jo Noero she went on to become a director at Paragon Habitat Architects. In 2008 she founded her firm "Ntsika Architects", meaning pillar of strength or home pillar, the fundamental support of a community. Ntsika celebrated its ten year anniversary in 2018. [4][5]Design Approach"Architect as an instrument for change", Tromp prizes above all other elements architecture that is fundamentally impactful to not only the users but their environment, her designs push the boundaries of structural work while embracing architecture as a means for social good.[6] Her work on many clinics across South Africa and in collaboration with the government has given her a unique understanding of the field.
