释义 | Nathan Sellers is a Cumbria squash player who was born on 3rd December 2006. At age 7, Nathan fell in love with the sport and later started playing competitively. He played in his first tournament at his home club Carlisle, coming 2nd losing out to Durham And Cleveland star Joseph Billany 3-1. In the later season of 2016 Nathan reached the semi finals of the Yarm Open and the Ikely Open. At the end of year Nathan was ranked No.99 in England. He reached numerous finals at the start of 2017 in Newcastle and Norton but lost out again to lefty Joseph Billany. Nathan finally beat Joseph numerous times in The Dunlop Challenge Series which was ebolished in 2018 when coach and organiser Liam Gutcher left Nathan’s home club after a year. Nathan won two 2 England Squash titles in Manchester and Carlisle beating Callum Mullins and rival Joseph Billany. That was his last match in the Bu11 and he reached his highest ranking of Number 5. He played for Cumbria in the inter county championships where they reached 2nd in the group stage and did not progress further with the team after coming 3rd in the other group stage. In 2018, he reached semi finals in bronze events in the category Bu13 losing out to Toby Simpson 3-1 and again a month later 3-0. He then came 19th in the national championships. In April he played in Newcastle but lost in the semi finals to Scotland’s Oliver Hunter. He didn’t play in another competition until July where he came 3rd in The Merseyside open which was hosted at the Liverpool Cricket club by Andy Breen. He went to a workshop in Windscale where the North West Aspire coaches came down and assessed him and he later was picked to join aspir which Is for the best of each regions sqaush players. In October he played in the Silver Manchester event where he came 19th. A week later he reached the Bu13 North West regional championship finals where he narrowly lost 3-1 to Cheshire’s Freddie Vaughan Hawkins. In the next week Nathan was badly injured in a match in Newcastle against Matthew Walmsley which would leave him out of action until late November. He returned in the British Junior Open 2019 which is for the best juniors in the world where he represnted portugal and england. He came 56th in the event and struggled with shoulder problems. He played in the Norton open 2019 where he lost 3-0 11-3 11-6 11-7 to England no.11 Dan Leech. He was selected to play for the North west inter regional competition which Is being held in in June 2019. He played in the 2019 English junior Championships where he played 2 matches and lost them both as he has battled tonsillitis and he was forced to retire in the tournament. |
