Nayla al-RashdanHer Excellence, Nayla al-Rashdan is a Jordanian professor and a member of the Senate of Jordan. She studied law at the University of Damascus and received her Bachelor's degree in 1968. She followed in the footsteps of her father, the lawyer and judge, Najib al-Rashdan, as well as a number of her brothers who were also in the legal field. She was one of the first women lawyers in Jordan to be registered with the Bar Association and one of the first female lawyers who stood in court, in defense of women's rights and human rights. In the public eye, she remains active in the field. She regularly runs seminars, lectures and workshops that talk about women and the homeland. She has clear political opinions on matters such as the right of return, the Arabism of Jerusalem, the invasion of Iraq and other issues relating to current affairs of the state and its future.
