(Dr) Neil March (born Hemel Hempstead, 1963) is a British Composer and Recording Artist. March studied at Goldsmiths, University of London with Roger Redgate obtaining a masters degree and PhD in composition. March's PhD was on the subject of Developing an Urban Art Music[1]. The thesis focused on the relationship between recorded environmental sounds used both for pitch and effect and notated instrumental parts. March's music has been featured on BBC Radio 3 and BBC Radio 6 Music. In 2017 a nomination by the radio show Late Junction and its presenter Max Reinhardt led to March performing on the BBC Music Introducing stage at Latitude Festival. March conducted his ensemble The Music of Sound and Late Junction broadcast part of the performance. His music has also featured on Freak Zone with Stuart Maconie and on the Tom Robinson show, both on BBC Radio 6 Music. He continues to record and perform his electronic pop and related music as one half of the duo Environmental Sound Foundation with singer-poet Dilara[2]. His newest work has been featured on NTS and he has been a frequent guest on Radio Dacorum in Hemel Hempstead. March spent a short spell in 2018 as A&R Manager and reviewer for the online music platform Angry Baby[3]. Since late 2017 he has worked as a moderator and reviews writer for Tom Robinson on his Fresh on the Net website and new music blog[4]. He owns and records for the independent label Demerara Records[5]. He is also the author of the new music blog Trust The Doc[6]. March was invited to be a keynote speaker at the 2018 World Music Conference[7]. He has also had his works preserved in the British Library musical archives.
