Niccolo Luigi Ferri, (birth name Niccolo Luigi Francesco Paolo Agostino Ferri) (November 4, 1831- March 26, 1886) born in Mola di Bari, Italy, on November 4, 1831, in the dwelling house at Fountain Street Nuvo, to parents Giovanni Agostino Ferri and Orsola Renna.

After the first studies in the country, followed the vocation and devoted himself to music. At sixteen he had already composed a work entitles "Luigi Rolla" which was represented as well as successful in La Scala in Milan in 1850. The Neapolitan Government provided the education expenses for Ferri, so he could attend the master classes at the Conservatory of Music S. Pietro a Maiella in Naples, under the direction of Saverio Mercadante.

Ferri was the composer of several works, including "Lara", performed at the Scala Opera in Milan in 1851. Following a dispute arose between him and the direction of the greatest theater in Milan in 1861. Biographers have written an English great success codesta Lara alla La Scala in Milan. "Ferri's opera 'Lara', the World Artistic most valuable periodic milanesse directed by Fano", written in the London newspapers. Ferri moved to Paris.

In 1848 he took residence first in Paris, creating further compositions. He was welcomed in Paris for his chamber works, had the honor of being elected a member of the Society of Authors and Composers, La Société des Auteurs et Compositeurs.

His brother, Giovanni Ferri (1821-1877) born in Mola di Bari, Italy was initiated to the priesthood. His passion was the art of singing in which he excelled, lead him to sharing his voice with the world and received many well deserved laurels. Tenor trod the boards of the major theaters of Italy, France, Spain, Russia, and America, with the anagrammatic pseudonym "Ettore Irfre". The Iberian Nation gave him the proud title of "Nino de Espana". In October 6, 1877, while singing a scenes of 'Piccinini' at the Teatro Bari Opera, Puglia, Italy, he died on stage.
