Nik Bizzell-Browning (born December, 1961 in Manchester, England) is a composer, performer (primarily drums and vocals), researcher and itinerant musician. In order to help manage his OCD at the age of 11 his parents sent him for drum lessons, which included workshops with James Blades. His first gig was at the age of 15, and he left school soon after. During the 1990's, after a decade on the road as a busker, Nik returned to academia to study composition with Professor's Jonathan Harvey and Martin Butler at Sussex University (UK), where he gained a 1st class (hons) degree in 20th Century Music, and an MA in Music Composition. He continues to experiment with an eclectic range of compositional styles [1] , and in 2017 began a PHD in composition at Brunel University under the supervision of Peter Wiegold [https://www.brunel.ac.uk/people/peter-wiegold]. Under the pen name Sputnik Weazel, as well as releasing numerous independent records [2], Nik was the touring drummer for the Surfin’ Lungs and The Men They Couldn’t Hang, playing drums & piano on the latter’s album “The Defiant”. In 2018 “The Dice Man Speaks”, Nik’s music & spoken word collaboration with Luke Rhinehart (author of the cult novel “The Dice Man”) [3] was released on 12” vinyl & distributed through Trunk Records.
