IntroductionNinaad Sangeet Mahotsav (English : Ninaad Music Festival) is an annual musical conclave and a noted hindustani classical music and dance festival organised by Sangeet Kala Kendra, Agra, and held annually in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. Ninaad Music Festival has year-after-year featured great masters and emerging musicians like Shubha Mudgal, Bhajan Sopari, Pt. Vishwamohan Bhatt, Pt. Jitendra Abhisheki, Smt. Manju Mehta, Padmashri Smt. Sumitra Guha, and many more. Ninaad offers its stage to the upcoming extraordinary talents of the country, and believes in working for the youth - as they would be the flag bearers of Indian classical music and art forms to the next level in years to come. HistoryPt. Raghunath Talegaonker, an indian classical music exponent of the Gwalior gharana, started a non-profit organisation named Sangeet Kala Kendra in Agra in 1950, with the mission of spreading indian classical music and art forms to every corner of the country and search out and train new talents in this field of art and culture. With this vision, and extensive efforts by him and his family, Ninaad Sangeet Mahotsav, also known as Pt. Vishnu Digambar Paluskar National inter-institutional music competition and national music festival was incepted in 1965, and is one of the oldest and longest running Hindustani Classical Music festivals in India, with its 53rd edition in 2018 in Agra. This festival is currently conceived and chaired by Pt. Keshav R. Talegaonker, son of Late Pt. Raghunath Talegaonker. Competition and Musical ConclaveNinaad Music Festival is usually a three-day affair, with morning and evening sessions. The first 3 sessions are dedicated to national level competition where music students from all over the country participate and compete in Hindustani classical vocals, indian musical instruments, indian folk dance, kathak, odissi, bharatnatyam, tabla and pakhawaj etc. segments. More than 250 participants compete in over 10 categories of indian classical music and performing arts segments. The last 3 sessions, i.e. evening session of day 2 and both sessions of day 3 are dedicated to musical and performing art recitals by various eminent as well as upcoming artists all across the country, and often of international fame as well. From classical vocal renditions to folk music, various instrumentals as well as dance forms - audiences have been left spellbound by performances by extraordinary talents on the stage of Ninaad music festival.
